Exactly 90 days from today... I will turn 40!
(Yes... the"Turning 40 Project" starts today)
Since there are an awful lot of mixed messages in the world about this "particular age." I've decided that it might be worth seeing what the fuss is all about. I mean, turning 40 has never seemed like a bad thing to me. In fact, I've come to realize that there is only one alternative to it - and I don't intend for this to be my epitaph.
It may sound as though I am obsessed with getting older. Quite the opposite, actually. My obsession is with LIVING. Not only living - but living a truly remarkable life. So, maybe there is some magic to the number?
Okay, so here is the plan:
Starting today (Day 90), I will write on my blog EVERY DAY until my 40th birthday on October 24th. The last 90 days of my 30's will be splayed out on the page like a Shih Tzu sleeping on it's back. There is no road map for this project, nor have I prepared topics or written anything in advance. This is in REAL TIME folks.
What I do know...
I will work hard to confront any topic my heart feels compelled to write about. However, I will only be focusing on ME. Yeah... I know... "It's not all about you, Craig." Who am I supposed to write about? YOU? (I didn't think so). In all fairness, you might recognize yourself from my posts. It's okay... don't stress. There is no bus coming around the corner.
I am simply going to put a proverbial "ear-to-the-ground" to see what is rumbling inside of me, and then pour it out on the digital page. I'll share my posts on my Facebook and maybe find some other ways to put it out there into the world. This is an experiment and I'm starting without much of a plan... on purpose.
Fair warning...
You're
either going to see a man fall apart before your very eyes, or you'll
share in some pretty cool discoveries. Either way, I'm only going to
have this experience once. You'll see it right here. A lot can happen in 90 days, right?
Also, you can insert any legal disclaimer you wish about how this is not a reflection of my employer and should not be used to disinherit me from wills, etc. The truth is that I want to live my life in such a way that everything is fluid. I intend no harm. It's like a sort of reciprocal Karma between my personal and professional lives. But... if you cannot remain objective, stop reading now. Don't be drama.
I want feedback....
The floor is open to discussion. Feel free to comment on Facebook, here at my blog, or... heck... call me. Let's talk. Let's get to know each other better. Just be honest, kind and respectful.
My first share will be this...
A Facebook friend posted a video of his friends father who had recently passed away. In the video, a very kind-eyed and wise Albert talks about his advise to young people. As you'll see, Albert was in his 80's when the video was made - so, I am one of the young people he was addressing. I did not expect to have my first look at this project make me feel younger, but it did. I realize I have a lot of time left. Regardless, it's beautifully said and I wanted to share it with you.
In a short 48-second video, Albert leaves a legacy that I believe to be truly remarkable. Enjoy! Click here to watch the video.
Till tomorrow...
Craig
