90-to-40: Getting back to my future

Day 89
This morning, I woke up to the sounds of hammers and saws outside my front door. The contractors were working on my new front porch entry. They get a much earlier start than I do, so about six  o'clock this morning I woke up and unlocked the front door and went back to bed.
When I got out of bed at about nine o'clock and peeked down the hall, I was greeted with the site of a new front door. This one has a window in it. Sunlight! Ahh, the light of progress.
It was just a sign that my home is finally coming together after months, make that years, of knowing that this place could be much more than it was.

I never intended to live here. I bought this house to help out someone I loved who needed a new start. They decided not to stay here, so I turned it into a rental. Let's just say that didn't go well either.
I decided to move into this house because I believed it could be a terrific home. Plus I was broke and circumstances had forced my decision. So... I didn't exactly connect right away. That is, it wasn't home... yet.
But with a little time, planning and some financial prudence... I have started to make it mine. Renovations are under way to the outside. I feel as though I'm making an investment in my future. It will be home for me and my partner. I can see a vision for my future.
This experience has taught me a great deal. However, I think the biggest lesson is that we always have to have a vision of the future wherever we find ourselves. Without being able to envision the future, there is no reason to get up in the morning.
Persistence has always prevailed in my life. Not always with material objects or money, but for the best outcome. Even when I didn't know how a given situation could possibly turn out well, it does. I think that's called faith.

The "Backstory" to the Future:
So, I left the contractors to their work here this morning and headed over to the city to meet friends. On my way, I was thinking about the concept of investing in my own future and how what we do today is so important to our future happiness.
As I crossed the bridge into St Louis, I looked up to see that I was following a DeLorean. Yes... a silver DeLorean with license plates that read, "Tic Tock."
And... it was at that moment, I realized what I would write about my blog today. But I took a picture of the DeLorean just to make sure you know I am not crazy.

You can't make this stuff up, folks!
